Digital Double
We were commissioned to create a digital double for 3D illustrations.
To create this digital double, we began with a photoscan session to generate our initial reference and then combined that with photographs of the subject.
With a Texturing.xyz VFace as a starting point, we used R3DS Wrap to wrap the VFace around the initial reference scan and define our rough proportions. We then brought the wrapped head into ZBrush and began sculpting our secondary proportions using photographic reference. The VFace was then exported back into R3DS Wrap and combined with a 3D Scan Store base mesh.
Both meshes were brought into Blender, where the body was rigged using Auto-Rig Pro and the head was rigged separately using FaceIt, giving us access to ARKit FACS expressions.
Grooming was done in Blender using the particle hair system.
Clothing was fitted and simulated in Marvelous Designer and textured in Substance Painter.
Shading for the skin and clothing was done in Redshift for Blender. We also recreated the skin and cloth shaders in Cycles for comparison.
Environments, lookdev, and lighting were done in Blender and post-processing was done using Photoshop.
